Miyazaki Prefecture is blessed with beautiful blue oceans and green mountains, with no end of fantastic natural sights to see! Takachiho Gorge, for example, was formed by lava flow from Mt. Aso, and its gorgeous scenery has earned it a spot on Japan’s national natural monument register. Why not rent a boat and row down the gorge yourself to get an up-close view of the amazing cliffs, as well as Manai Falls, which was selected as one of the 100 Best Waterfalls in Japan? Another must-see sightseeing location is Aoshima Island, surrounded by weird rock formations that have been given the name “the Devil’s Washboard.” It’s a small island that you can walk to from the mainland, and in the summer time when the tide is out is very popular with families.
It takes 10 minutes to get from Miyazaki Airport to JR Miyazaki Station by train, and we are just a quick 5-minute walk from the station.
