Don´t leave Frankfurt without trying the city´s signature drink of apfelwein, or apple cider. Cross the picturesque footbridge, the Eiserner Steg, over the Main River to the Sachsenhausen district. Here you’ll find plenty of rustic taverns serving this local speciality along with hearty regional cuisine. Hop aboard the Ebbelwei-Express tram to take in city sights with an apfelwein accompaniment.
For panoramic views of Frankfurt and its environs, take the lift to the top of the Main Tower, 3km from the hotel. This circular, blue-glass building has an outdoor viewing platform that´s 200 metres high. From here, you get an unforgettable perspective on the skyscrapers of the banking district that give Frankfurt its nickname – “Mainhattan” – and the Main River snaking through the city centre.
Frankfurt boasts an efficient, inexpensive public transport network, making getting around the city a breeze. Hotel visitors get to travel even more cheaply with the Hotel Guest ticket. For around €10, it provides unlimited use of all buses, trams and trains for 2 days. It’s valid on trains to the airport and, of course, on bus 37, which stops right outside the hotel.
