Located in a peaceful garden in the city center, this medieval monastery was carefully transformed into a luxurious hotel and convention site. Excellent wining and dining in our Michelin star awarded restaurant and informal brasserie.

Indulge in culinary refinement and delicious wines. In a stylish room full of special details like large mirrors and a magnificent mantelpiece below the imperial coat of arms, the two-headed eagle. . Maître and Sommelier Johan Kragtwijk welcomes and takes care of the guests, from aperitifs to after-drinks. Chef de Cuisine Jeroen Robberegt and his brigade prepare every meal at the highest level. This is the atmosphere in which our guests enjoy dinner at Grand Restaurant Karel V.

The restaurant is open for dinner from Monday to Saturday, 6pm - 10pm.

Brasserie Goeie Louisa
Tasty, affordable, and enjoyable meals. Together or alone. With friends, family, or business contacts. Everyone feels at home in the former monastery kitchen, one of the oldest kitchens in the Netherlands.

Brasserie Goeie Louisa is open from Monday to Sunday. Beverages and snacks are served from 8.30am until 10.30pm, and lunch and dinner are served between 11.30am and 10.30pm. The brasserie opens at 10am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Are you looking for a location for a meeting, presentation, conference, reception, anniversary, wedding or an intimate dinner? Grand Hotel Karel V can cater for all your needs, and arrange everything for you in accordance with your wishes right down to the last detail. You can choose one of the 13 beautifully refurbished conference halls, including an auditorium for 100 guests, and all audiovisual equipment you possibly need. The conference halls can be hired for a morning, an afternoon, or longer, with the added option of complementary services including various break formulas, lunch, dinner, or buffets.

Our staff shall prepare and cater for your wishes down to the smallest detail. Making your corporate gathering a sure-fire success, your anniversary an unforgettable party, and your dinner a culinary highlight.

Take exit 8 ‘Centrum’
At the end of the exit, at the traffic lights, follow ‘Centrum’
At the roundabout, go straight ahead and continue to follow ‘Centrum’
Go past the Exhibition Centre
Pass underneath the railway viaduct, turn right, to ‘Centrum’
Keep driving in the right-hand lane, to ‘Station’ Drive along the top on Daalsesingel (changes into Catharijnesingel), a parallel road runs underneath. As soon as these two roads meet up, turn left at the first opportunity (at the traffic lights), to the ‘Museumkwartier’
Across the bridge, straight left into Geertebolwerk (dead-end), make sure not to drive onto the cycle lane (looks like the first turn on the left)
At the end of Geertebolwerk you can see Grand Hotel Karel V on your right

Travelling on the A28 motorway to Utrecht (from A27, follow the A28 motorway to Rijnsweerd)
Follow the signs ‘Centrum’ (A28)
At the end of the A28 motorway, turn left at the traffic lights
Take the first exit ‘Stadion’
At the end of the exit, turn right at the traffic lights to ‘Centrum’
Continue on this road until you reach the T-junction, turn left here to ‘Centrum-West’
Follow the signs ‘Doorgaand verkeer’
At the traffic lights, turn right to ‘Centrum-west/Maarssen’ you are now on Catharijnesingel
At the first opportunity, turn right at the traffic lights to the ‘Museumkwartier’
Across the bridge, straight left into Geertebolwerk (dead-end), make sure you do not accidentally drive onto the cycle lane (looks like the first turn on the left)
At the end of Geertebolwerk you can see Grand Hotel Karel V on your right

Travelling on the A12 motorway to Utrecht
Follow the signs ‘Jaarbeurs Zuid’
Take exit 17 ‘Kanaleneiland’
At the end of the exit, at the traffic lights, follow ‘Kanaleneiland’
Follow the signs ‘Jaarbeurs’
At the first roundabout, turn right, to ‘Hoograven/Lunetten’
Before the second bridge (yellow/blue railing), turn left onto Jutfaseweg
Continue on this road and turn left at the second set of traffic lights
Then straight right, underneath the railway viaduct, to ‘Centrum’
At the second set of traffic lights, turn left, you are now on Catharijnesingel
At the first opportunity, turn right at the traffic lights to the ‘Museumkwartier’
